Thank-you so much for booking my simple San Antonio Airbnb Guest Suite! I hope this webpage will provide you with everything you need to know about the area and your guest suite.
We have sought to equip our guest suite to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by providing all the things you might want for a comfortable stay. We hope you truly feel at home, relaxed, comfortable and happy. I live in the main part of the house, and while I’m not always available in person, I’m just a message away via the Airbnb app.
COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING!
If you aren’t receiving messages from me, check to make sure you’re logged into the Airbnb app or that you have your text notifications set up. If you aren’t logged into the app and you don’t have your notifications set up, you will need to constantly check the email account that is associated with your Airbnb account in order to receive messages. Please let me know if you need anything.
During COVID-19, we have made an effort to provide you with hand sanitizer, paper towels, Lysol spray, and sanitizing wipes. Please only use these as needed, as sometimes they can be difficult to obtain and we would like all of our guests to have access to the same supplies.
CHECK IN TIME
Check-in time is 3 PM. Although we can sometimes arrange an early check-in, please contact us if you will arrive early. We cannot make any promises.
If you are arriving via car, please enter 7502 Castle Green, San Antonio, TX 78218 as your destination. You may also click the link here for Google driving directions. You can also check out our “Getting Around” page here for more information.
Please park in the driveway on the right hand side.
Your doors are the double doors straight ahead. Once parked, your entry is simple via the smart keypad. You will be sent the code to the keypad the day of your arrival, usually an hour or two prior to check-in time. If you should have any trouble at all, please ring the doorbell.
LOCKING THE DOOR
To lock the door, simply push the “Schlage” button at the top of the keypad. If for some reason this doesn’t work, you can always enter your code. You will hear the door lock.
ACCESSIBILITY ENTERING AND OPENING BOTH DOORS
If needed, both doors can be opened for a 60″ wide entryway. The door on the left hand side has a “catch” at the top. Please see video below for a quick explanation.
We have fast, high speed WiFi for your convenience and productivity. To connect to our guest network, look for “Welcome2SA.” You’ll find the password on the desk in your room. To make connection seamless, there will also be a QR code you can scan to connect. You should be able to open your camera app and point at the QR code to connect. However, if this does not work you might have to download a QR code reader app to your phone, (if you don’t already have one). Of course, you can always enter the password manually to connect. 🙂
The service is provided for your enjoyment, however, you are responsible for safe and appropriate use and complying with all laws. Use of our Internet service constitutes your agreement to use it for legal purposes only, meaning you will not use it for any illegal activities.
If there is any loss of service, please contact us.
Opening and Closing the Blinds
Operating the blinds is easy if you remember that the beige colored string is used to open and close the blinds (horizontal travel), and the metal chain is used to open and close the blind slats/louvres. Always make sure the sharp edge of the blinds are pointing towards you prior to using the beige colored string for back and forth travel. For example, in the morning, you will want to open the slats with the metal chain before using the beige colored string to slide the blinds open. NEVER ATTEMPT TO ENTER OR EXIT THE DOORS WITH THE BLINDS SHUT. See video below.

Download a White Noise App
Consumer Reports has an excellent article on White Noise apps here: https://www.consumerreports.org/home-medical-supplies/smartphone-apps-can-mimic-a-white-noise-machine and you can download a really good app for free here: https://www.tmsoft.com/white-noise.
There is a mini fridge, toaster oven, single serve coffee maker, electric teakettle, small microwave and sink for your convenience. Please note the sink does not have a garbage disposal, so please do not put any food down the drain. Use the garbage can to the left of the sink.
Please make sure all food garbage is in a white garbage bag prior to placing in the brown can on the right hand side of the house. Items that can be recycled, (list can be found here), must be placed loose, (i.e. do NOT bag glass bottles or aluminum cans), in the blue trash can.
Also note, due to the location of the pipes in the wall, the sink may be difficult to reach if you have accessibility needs.
We have provided paper plates, cups and plastic-ware as well as regular dishes and silverware for your convenience. Please let us know if there is something else you need.
Quick start guide here: https://www.ninjakitchen.com/include/pdf/qsg-sp101.pdf. Learn more about how to use the toaster oven here: Guide for Toaster Oven https://www.ninjakitchen.com/include/pdf/manual-sp101.pdf.
Quick start video:
There is a small sitting area with a TV for you to relax in. The TV has an Apple TV attached in order that you may access some cable channels. There are 2 remotes, the LG remote for the TV and the smaller remote for the Apple TV box. We have Spectrum TV Gold. You can view the channels here. (PDF)
If the Apple TV does not turn on when you turn on the LG remote, then simply push the “Menu” button the the Apple TV remote in order to turn it on. Once turned on and you select “Menu” from the Apple TV remote, you will see a screen like the photo below. You will select the Spectrum app for TV. Alternately, you may sign in to your own Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime account.

TEXAS WEATHER & YOUR GUEST SUITE
While this might seem like a no-brainer,–it should be mentioned that keeping the doors and windows to your guest suite shut as much as possible will help keep these pesky insects out. We have had an unseasonably rainy spring and summer so far. (As of July 2021) There is mosquito spray in the bathroom vanity; bottom drawer/right hand side.
This IS Texas, folks! When visiting, please be watchful for scorpions. Although I have my home sprayed on a regular basis, scorpions are especially difficult to kill due to their hard exoskeleton, and unlike roaches, they do NOT clean their feet. Also, they don’t come in for food, (at least not “human food!”), they come in because it’s cool and they love DAMP items. So, please keep your towels hung up, or if you do have damp clothes or towels on the floor, check carefully when picking them up! While the sting of a scorpion has been likened to the sting of a wasp, it still is NOT a pleasant experience. I have plenty of places for you to hang your clothes and towels. You can place your shoes up off the floor on the bottom of the clothes rack. There is also a place to put your dirty clothes underneath the luggage rack.
Scorpions don’t usually “run around.” They sit very still and wait for their prey. You will usually be able to spot them before they sting you,–especially if you keep in mind that they like to hide in damp, dark places.
For your ultimate comfort and privacy, please keep the dark blue room darkening curtains closed at all times. When summer is in full swing with triple digit heat, keeping your curtains shut will help keep your room more comfortable.
Your guest suite has it’s own HVAC system and smart thermostat. We have the thermostat programmed at 76* during the day and 72* at night during the summer. However, we, (or you), can override these settings if you are uncomfortable. Additionally, there is a ceiling fan as well as 2 small room fans you can place wherever you would like in order to stay cool. Please let us know if you are uncomfortable!!
Part of having a “smart” thermostat means that when it senses that no one is in the guest suite, it adjusts the temperature accordingly; usually to 76*. Insisting that the temperature be set to 68* even when you are gone all day is selfish and creates undue demands on our power grid while at the same time, serves no purpose. Please be mindful.
During our winter/colder weather, the thermostat will be programmed at 68* during the day and 65* during the night.
There is a fire extinguisher located to the right of the kitchenette sink attached to the side of the cabinet. Your room is also equipped with a combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector. If you’ve never used a fire extinguisher, here is a link to a quick video showing you how to do so. Should you need medical care, we have many good facilities in San Antonio.
The doorbell outside of your door has a chime in your suite, so if you order food in, you will hear the doorbell.
Our street is usually very quiet. We have provided ear plugs for your convenience as well as a white noise machine in the nightstand drawer. Also, we have soft water, so if you should hear what sounds like a shower during the wee hours of the morning, (hopefully you won’t!), it is just the system regenerating. (Closet in corner of guest suite has soft water system in it.)
We understand that sometimes accidents happen! Should you break anything, please let us know immediately. If it’s a large issue, (i.e. the TV screen), we would like to agree on the cost with you prior to departure in order to avoid any issues later. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD REPAIRS OR ANY ALTERATIONS BE UNDERTAKEN BY YOU.
Please take your garbage out to the brown can on the right hand side of the house when emptying the kitchen garbage can. (If the can isn’t on the side of the house on Sunday evening or Monday morning, it will be out at the street as garbage pickup is Monday morning.) Recyclable items such as glass or aluminum cans may be put in the blue can, however, they must be put in individually. In other words, please do not put the cans or bottles in a plastic bag. All items must be loose.
Absolutely NO smoking or vaping on the premises. As mentioned in my Airbnb listing, there will be no toleration if this rule is broken and a $250.00 fee will be assessed. Hopefully you have not booked my guest suite if you smoke or vape.
Enjoying Your Time Outside
You are welcome to walk around the side of the house and enjoy the birds and wildlife while sitting on the back patio. We have an abundance of beautiful hummingbirds this summer. Along with that, you may also see Great Blue Heron, Great White Egrets, armadillos, owls, fox and coyotes. (June 28, 2021) Should you see a fox or coyote, know that they are much more scared of you than you are of them! In fact, making any kind of noise will most likely scare them away.
The hummingbirds, on the other hand, seem to enjoy buzzing around no matter who is nearby.
You will find mosquito spray or towelettes in your room as they can be vicious around sundown.
As in all things in life,–a little common sense goes a long way. 🙂
Checkout Time and Departure Information
Checkout time is strictly 10 AM. Should you require a later check-out, we will do our best to accommodate, however, you must let us know beforehand. If we have guests arriving with just over 24 hours in between, it will be almost impossible for us to change the check-out time due to different practices and cleaning protocols re COVID.
- If you have food in the refrigerator, please make sure to remove and dispose of all food items.
- Most important thing to do: please make sure all garbage has been carried out to the brown trash can on the right hand side of the house. If it is a Sunday evening or Monday morning and the brown can is not on the side of the house, it will be at the curb. Recyclable items such as glass or aluminum cans may be put in the blue can, however, they must be put in individually. In other words, please do not put the cans or bottles in a plastic bag. All items must be loose.
- Make sure all wet towels are hung up.
- Report any missing or damaged items to us.
- Check that all lights are turned off.
- Make sure to push the “SCHLAGE” button at the top of the keypad to lock the door as you are leaving.
I would really appreciate it if you would take a minute to sign my guestbook. If you’re flying out of San Antonio airport, you can find information here: https://www.sanantonio.gov/sat.
