While this has certainly been a year that has lacked merriment, all is not lost. San Antonio and surrounding areas have numerous Holiday events that are, as of this date, still planned, many of them outdoors which can be viewed from the safety of your car.
San Antonio River Walk and Pearl District
The San Antonio River Walk has turned into a magical place of twinkling lights with many things to do outdoors. It costs nothing to walk along the river and enjoy the spectacular view while listening to carolers as they float by on river boats. The River Walk remains lighted until January 4th. The lights this year extend into the Pearl district. Visit the Park at Pearl around dusk to enjoy the beautiful lights. Should you decide to take a horse and carriage ride, be sure you don’t miss the King William Historic District. You can also take a self-guided walking tour.
Windcrest
This wonderful Christmas light display has been taking place for over 60 years! As it is only about 1 mile from my home, it is definitely a must see if you are staying with me. If at all possible, try to go during the week as the lines can get very long on the weekends. This year’s theme pays tribute to our military heroes. One of the displays this year has won a spot on ABC’s “Great Christmas Light Fight!”
